Sutlieff Tree Services Ltd was set up by David Sutlieff in 1999. Whilst training in Arboriculture and Forestry at Brinsbury in 1993, David started working for a well-respected local contractor. On completing his course and being awarded the prize for Arboriculture, he was offered a full-time position  before later moving to a salaried position on the treework team of Crawley Borough Council.

Based at Tilgate Park, this gave David further opportunities to further his knowledge and experience of treework, whilst become familiar with the workings of a local authority. Leaving after five years employment, as a Chargehand Arborist, David concentrated on setting up his own business. Training and professional knowledge is continuously update for David and his staff, and achieved the Level 4 Diploma in Arboriculture at Merrist Wood College in 2017.

A qualification aimed at supervisors, tree inspectors and technicians. It demonstrates significant technical knowledge and understanding. It also allows use of the Post Nominals ‘TechArborA’ as recognition of the level of career qualification and their experience and knowledge as arborists. David also possesses the LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection award. This is aimed at experienced and qualified inspector with an in-depth knowledge of plant and arboricultural science. Concentrating on how to clearly and competently inspect potentially hazardous trees, and writing appropriate and detailed remedial works (control measures).
